Students are required to pay their balance owing or create a payment plan at the time of registration. Students who qualify for an immediate exemption of tuition and fees, such as the Enrollment Fee Grant, should confirm their eligibility prior to registration.
Accounts with a balance owing of $55 or more four weeks prior to the start of priority registration for a future term will have a hold placed on their account restricting them from future term registration.
Students applying for financial aid must have a confirmed award status and maintain their eligibility to ensure a hold for payment is not placed on their account.
If you do not qualify for financial aid, you may qualify for other forms of tuition assistance, such as the Enrollment Fee Grant.
Students will not be dropped from their current coursework due to a balance owing.
Exempt Students
Students in any of the groups below will be exempt from the Drop for Non-Payment process. Exempt students who carry a balance over to future terms, will be prohibited from registering for courses.
- CCPG and FA students
- Community Grant recipients
- Foster Youth
- High School students
- Payment plan students
- Veterans
Students who register after the drop deadline, are enrolled in classes when the term begins, and have not paid fees, will not be dropped for non-payment. Students will incur a financial obligation to the college AND a hold will be placed on their record if payment is not received or they do not drop prior to the refund deadline. Students who do not meet financial obligations in a timely manner will be sent to collections.
Important Notice
Financial Aid Recipients that are determined to be eligible for Federal or State Grants or Loans May NOT be dropped for non-payment. Financial aid students not subject to drop for non-payment receive an email indicating they will not be dropped for non-payment. Those students are responsible for dropping any classes they do not intend to take and verifying the drop by printing the 鈥淪tudent Class Program/Web Schedule鈥 bill. Once the financial aid award has been posted to the students account, students with a fee balance will be able to pay the balance through their Portal account. Students will be notified after the semester begins if they have a balance due. Note: If you do not receive this email, you are still responsible for paying your fees, or you may be dropped for non-payment. Applying for financial aid does not mean that you qualify for or will receive financial aid.
California College Promise Grant recipients (Formerly Board of Governors Fee Waiver-BOGFW)
Students who receive the California College Promise Grant are responsible for paying the College Basic Fees, as the Grant only waives the per-unit enrollment fees. If students do not pay the College Basic Fees (currently $55.00), they may be dropped for non-payment. Verify payment by printing Student Class Program (web schedule bill).

Student Responsibility
Accountability and Responsibility
It is the student's responsibility to drop classes by the state-mandated refund deadline to ensure cancellation of fees and to be eligible for a refund.
Failure to attend class meetings does not constitute withdrawal from the class and does NOT exempt a student from the obligation to pay all enrollment and related fees.
Students must print their class schedule to verify all withdrawals. Student class schedules are available on the WVC Portal.
For more information, please contact Admission and Records.
Higher Education Collections Agency
If you have an overdue balance with the college, your account may be turned over to a higher education collections agency. These agencies are not like traditional collections groups as they do not report your status to creditors and therefore, do not affect your credit score. If your account has been turned over to collections, you will need to directly pay your overdue balance with the collections agency.
